Jobs & Passions
[Both]Cindy and I both came to know the Lord personally while still very young. In high school I felt a desire to work in full time ministry. I began to seek the Lord's will by assisting at my church with the sound equipment. Cindy's parents became missionaries while she was a teenager. Because of their ministry Cindy was able to see the need for Christ around the world. While in Paris Cindy studied French and came to understand the struggles communicating Christ through a language barrier.
In 1994, before we were married, we went to West Africa where Cindy's
family managed a print shop. We set up a small recording studio to assist the nationals in hearing about Christ. Two short years later that studio would be used by a JESUS Film team as they recorded the 400th language, Cebaara, for the film.
In 1995, after graduating from Moody Bible Institute, we were married in Rockford, MI. I went to work for RBC Ministries and Cindy started working at a small local printing shop. After a few years we were led by the Lord to join the JESUS Film Master Studio in Orlando, FL. Cindy's dad sent an e-mail from Cote d'Ivoire telling us about the "JESUS" film recording team that was using the studio we had set up. Through that team we first heard of the need for editors and mixers at the JESUS Film Master Studio.
[Shawn] For three and a half years I had the responsibility of editing and mixing new translations of the "JESUS" film. Now I have been assigned to work with OneStory to help reach people groups that communicate orally. I will be building new ministry tools in film, audio, and interactive media. I am also responsible for helping keep our computer equipment in good repair and providing new equipment and training to tho
se who join StoryRunners.
As part of the training aspect, I will be traveling around the world to meet with our Quest staff already in the field and the new staff going to the field. I help train them to record their stories so we can have accountability as well as archival and broadcast copies.
The Questers also need to know how to be secure in the field. I help train them to send encryted emails as well as how to be safe in aggressive countries as they are doing their work.
[Cindy] Before our two children, Tessa and Kyra, were born, Cindy led a team of graphic designers at the Master Studio. Now she has an even greater responsibility, that of fulltime mom. She has also helped initiate a mentoring program to assist the JESUS Film wives and mothers and she takes part in a weekly women's Bible study.
