Our Story

Now it's time to meet the curious and sometimes unusual we like to call "our family."
Tessa is our older daughter. She's seven now and has started Kindergarten. One of her love language is gifts, as you might be able to tell by the way everyone she meets gets a personal, hand-drawn picture of butterflies. She loves anything pink and purple and has a curious aversion to cleaning her room.
If Tessa is our older munchkin and we only have two, then logically it follows that Kyra is the younger. She's four and one of the strangest things I've ever seen her do is eat frozen veggies by the handful (not cooked, mind you; frozen straight out of the bag). It's like candy. Yeeeesh!
Cindy grew up everywhere. She was born in Michigan and has moved approximately 25 times in her life (not counting back and forth to college). She spent many years in West Africa, serving with her parents as they ran a Christian print shop. I can usually tell when she's feeling restless by the frequency of how often the living room furniture changes position.
She loves quilting, reading (she'll disappear for days at a time if she's found a really good book), scrap-booking, her family, chocolate (the girls have picked up this habit as well) and most of all, her Roomba™.
Shawn was also born in Michigan but, unlike his wife, only moved twice before heading off to college. His dream is to one day have a multi-media room where he can entertain with movies, gaming, music, etc. Sometimes he'll answer to the name "Bob Johnson."
He loves reading, collecting comic books (Spiderman is his favorite), plastic modeling (mostly WWII tanks and fighters/bombers) and anything and everything related to MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000). You will often find him quoting from the series, to the great trepidation of his wife.
Shawn and Cindy have been married for 12 years and have been with Campus Crusade for Christ 11 of those years. They started out with the JESUS film project. After spending a lot of time asleep under her desk (due mostly to her delicate state of carrying Tessa for 9 months) Cindy decided it was time to remain at home to help raise their little one. (Besides, the bed was much more comfortable to nap in than the floor under her desk.) Shawn spent a great deal of time editing and mixing new translations of the JESUS film that came in from the field. (After hearing the film in dozens of different languages he gets easily confused if he hears it in English.) After a few years the Lord brought a unique opportunity for Shawn to expand his skills and serve more effectively with StoryRunners, their current ministry.
